Pressure Vessel Heads

Antonius makes different kinds of pressure vessel heads, and we make these vessel heads in different shapes and forms. Our production facilities are equipped for a wide range of sizes and thicknesses, precisely matched to the desired product. Of course, depending on the type of material.

Working with Antonius

We operate worldwide on five continents from our homebase in Maasbracht, the Netherlands, where our production facility is located. Our primary markets include Oil&Gas, Chemical Process industry, Power Generation, Pulp&Paper, and Food. With a team of 55 skilled professionals, we possess extensive knowledge and expertise in forming carbon steels, stainless steels, and other special materials. Our craftsmanship sets us apart and is why customers and engineering firms approach Antonius at an early stage.

The specifications we do vary considerably per market, country and customer. We have expertise in design codes such as ASME, EN 13445, AD-2000, Norsok, and many others. With our comprehensive understanding of various material grades, highly skilled welders, and specialized machinery, we can manufacture high-quality products in all standard and special material grades and sizes. We are convinced that we deliver products of high quality and we are always trying to reach our customers requirements.

Thorispherical head

The Torispherical head has different kind of shaping’s. These are mostly applied at lower to medium pressure vessels, the latter ofter at larger diameters such as for beer tanks. We can produce these heads in a diameter ranging from 200 up to 10,500 mm and in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 120 mm.

Standard end / 6% Torispherical head / PRC NFE 81-101

Standard heads are mostly used in very low pressure or atmospheric tanks.

Decimal end / Kopper head (acc. Din 28011) / 10% Torispherical head / GRC NFE 81-102

10% Torispherical heads/Kopperheads are mostly used in pressure liquid (beer, water, juices) containing tanks.

Korbbogen-head

The Korbbogen-heads are very similar to the elliptical 2:1 head. We can produce these heads in a diameter ranging from 200 to 10,500 mm and in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 120 mm.

Korbbogen head (acc. Din 28013) / SMS 482

Korbbogen heads are very similar to the Elliptical 2:1 heads. Simply said the Korbbogen heads are the European elliptical heads and the Elliptical heads are the American Korbbogen heads.

Elleptical head

The Ellipsoidal heads are similar to the Korbbogen-heads, simple said the Korbbogen heads are the European Eleptical heads. We produce these heads in a diameter ranging from 2000 to 10,500 mm and in thickness ranging from 3 to 120 mm.

Elliptical head 2:1

Elliptical heads 2:1 are very similar to the Korbbogen heads. Simply said the Korbbogen heads are the European Elliptical heads and the Elliptical heads 2:1 are the American Korbbogen heads.

Elliptical head 1,9:1 NFE 81-103

The elliptical 1,9:1 head shape is mostly used in the French region. This shape covers the other heads within the range, elliptical 2:1 heads and the Korbbogen heads, by his higher total height.

Flat head

Flat Heads are recommended to be ideal for nu pressure applications. The flatheads are with flat surfaces which make them perfect for installations that require flat inside surfaces. However, when used for pressure applications these pressure vessel heads may turn out to be more costly than other heads. We produce these heads in variable diameters ranging from 200 to 10000 mm and in thickness ranging from 3 to 50 mm.

Flat end / SMS 484

Flat ends / heads are mostly used in very low pressure or atmospheric tanks.

Hemispherical heads

Hemispherical heads possess a radial structure in which the depth of the head is half of its diameter. These storage heads are composed of two pressure heads that are positioned in a back-to-back manner, giving rise to a spherical shape that facilitates the high-pressure storage of materials with ease. In contrast to shells, hemispherical heads have thinner heads and utilize a standard 3:1 code that tapers during the transition. Welded sheets are predominantly used in the construction of hemispherical heads, rather than flat sheets, as seen in other types of heads. Consequently, hemispherical heads are the thinnest but also one of the most expensive head types. Hemispherical heads are ideal for applications that require large-diameter vessels or high-pressure storage.

We can produce these heads in a diameter ranging from 200 to 1800 mm in one piece and in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 120 mm. Bigger diameters will be made from segments with unlimited dimensions.

HEMI-Spherical head

The HEMI-spherical shape is the shape what is the best shape to resist the highest pressure to construct as thin as possible. Due to the HEMI-spherical shape the volume of the tank, when using the same building length, will be slightly lower as when U use a other shaped head (Elliptical, torispherical or Korbbogen head). This shape is used in very high (internal or external) pressure equipments.

Segmented head

A head that is segmented or segmental can take on various shapes such as 2:1 Elliptical heads, 1.9:1 Elliptical heads, Korbbogen heads, or Kopperhead. If the head is too large to be formed by standard tooling or by cold pressing and spinning, it must be manufactured using a crown and petal method. The individual segments or petals are created by (hot/cold) pressing them using specially designed tooling. The central cap or crown can be formed using conventional (hot/cold) pressing methods. The number of segments and the diameter of the central cap are determined by the available material sizes, efficient material nesting, and the maximum tooling size.

Expansion Bellow / Joint

Antonius produces a variety of expansion joints for various applications. Their production includes standard expansion joints manufactured industrially, as well as custom-designed expansion joints tailored to meet specific customer requirements. These customized expansion joints may include corner-balanced, pressure-balanced, external pressure-balanced, or chamber expansion joints. The purpose of these products is to offset the effects of changing pressure and/or temperature in a pressure vessel, pressure line, or heat exchanger.

We fabricate this not only in the most common dimensions between 250 mm and 5800 mm and in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 20 mm, but also in other special dimensions.

Cones

In addition to Vessel-Heads, Antonius also produces various custom pressed units, including different types of cones. Antonius has the knowledge to produce cones that have a knuckle and straight edge so that the cone fits perfectly on the shells. We can produce the cones in diameters ranging from 300 to 10,000 mm and in thicknesses depending on the top angle and the material. With our experts we are able to make special shapes and special pressed parts upon request.

Capabilities:

  • cone with knuckles on both sides
  • cone with knuckle on one side
  • excentrical cones
  • straight cones
